Epilepsy Program

Seeing your child have a seizure can be terrifying. They can happen without warning, and as the brain gets overloaded with bursts of electrical activity, they can pass out and their body can shake uncontrollably. The good news is epileptic seizures can be controlled, and our neurologists can help find what’s causing your child’s seizures and provide them with a treatment plan to help them live a normal life.

The signs and symptoms of epileptic seizures can range from full-body spasms to your child becoming completely still and unresponsive. Contact a neurologist if you notice any of the following:

  • Staring
  • Jerking movements of the arms and legs
  • Stiffening of the body
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Breathing problems or breathing stops
  • Loss of bowel or bladder control
  • Falling suddenly
  • Becoming unresponsive
  • Appearing confused or in a haze
  • Nodding the head rhythmically
  • Rapid eye blinking
