If your child is scheduled to come for treatment in our Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, you may be curious about what to expect for your child during her stay.
The unit specializes in treating children with injuries, illnesses, or congenital disabilities that prevent them from being independent. We believe in family-centered care, which means that you will be an integral part of your child’s therapy and recovery.
The team members that may help your child include:
You, your child and any other family members who wants to help
Physiatrist (physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation)
Nurse
Physical Therapist
Occupational Therapist
Speech Therapist
Neuropsychologist
Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
Child Life Specialist
Case Manager
Chaplain
Dietician
Patient Referral Coordinator
You can expect your child to receive therapy 3 hours per day, at least 5 days per week. The pediatric rehabilitation team will meet with you weekly to discuss your progress toward goals and discharge plan.
