Cynthia-McCauley-300-x-400St. Mary’s Medical Center and The Palm Beach Children’s Hospital have a new CEO.

The hospitals have promoted Cynthia McCauley, chief administrative officer (CAO), to chief executive officer.

In this role, Ms. McCauley will continue to be responsible for all strategic growth, operations and finances for both facilities.

“This promotion is well deserved. Cynthia is a steadfast hospital leader who has demonstrated that she has dynamic capabilities while navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Maggie Gill, CEO of Tenet’s Palm Beach Group. “Her focus has been on ensuring both St. Mary’s and Palm Beach Children’s remain safe for care, and our community can rest assured we have taken all of the appropriate steps.”

Ms. McCauley is a healthcare executive who has worked in a variety of roles during her close to 20-year tenure with Tenet. Prior to her appointment as CAO of St. Mary’s and Palm Beach Children’s last year, she served as the chief executive officer of Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS), one of the largest multi-specialty physician groups in South Florida. Under her leadership, TFPS has grown exponentially, to over 225 providers and 800 employees, providing care for over 536,000 patients annually across the communities of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Her continued success is demonstrated through numerous awards including being recognized as one of the “25 Most Influential Business Women in South Florida” by the South Florida Business Journal.

Ms. McCauley also was a nominee for the Athena Award in Palm Beach County. She serves as a board member of GCI Worldwide Corp., and was a panelist at the Extraordinary Women Leading Change Conference.

Prior to joining TFPS, she served as the chief financial officer at sister hospital Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, West Boca Medical Center in Boca Raton and North Ridge Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Her career with Tenet began as the director of finance at Delray Medical Center. Before coming to Tenet, she was the regional director of finance at a public hospital in Broward for 11 years.

She holds an MBA in finance from Long Island University, and a BA in foreign language from Adelphi University.
