Volunteers play a key role at Palm Beach Children's Hospital, helping out day-to-day routines, giving patients a sense of community and a personal touch that lets them know their neighbors care.

Volunteer Programs

Volunteer Chaplains:Our team of volunteer chaplains, representing many faiths and backgrounds, helps our full-time pastoral care chaplains meet the spiritual needs of our patients and their families.

The Cuddler Program: These volunteers provide comfort and support to ill children by helping with holding, giving hugs, and more.

Pet Therapy: These volunteers and their special, certified therapy dogs help our patients heal by visiting and entertaining them and their families.

Stroke of Hope:This program brings current stroke patients together with stroke-surviving volunteers to share experiences and educational resources.

Plus many other choices, including:

  • Mobile Library
  • Greeting Team
  • Child Life
  • Pediatric Rehab
  • And more depending on the medical center’s availability

Though we can never truly repay our volunteers for all they do to help our patients and caregivers, we do offer:

  • Free cafeteria meal ticket on the day you volunteer*
  • Access to hospital educational programs
  • Uniform is provided
  • Annual volunteer recognition event
  • Annual holiday party
  • Training and orientation
  • Letters of reference

*Limit $8 per meal

Volunteering at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Palm Beach Children’s Hospital is a meaningful and rewarding experience for our volunteers. We match volunteer’s talents and interests with current needs when determining placements within the medical center.  As a result, you are able to serve not only where you are needed, but also where you will be most rewarded.

How to Apply

Adult applicants (ages 18 and over) should complete the adult application. For the summer months only, applicants between the ages of 15-21 that want to apply for the Summer Youth Program should complete the summer youth program application and all required forms.
